Atlanta Metro’s Student Affairs wants YOU to get involved

ATLANTA, GA-

Today, I spoke with the Administrative Coordinator of Student Affairs, Noelia Sandoval, about their informal pop-corn stand. “Pop-In with the Division of Student Affairs” was a way for AMSC to introduce students to the directors of student affairs and to get information on how to get more involved in school, academically or recreational. Even though Ms. Sandoval has only been at AMSC a short while, she has made up her mind that she definitely wants students to be more involved, not only in academics, but within activities too.

“This was just a way to get the students to know who was over the student activities. Get to know where they could locate us, and what we were all about. We also introduced those people who could help with registration and financial aid seeing that the deadlines are a bit earlier this year,” stated Ms. Sandoval.

Though the directors offered popcorn and other refreshments to attract the students, they also had note cards so students could leave comments, concerns, and ideas they have about making school a more enjoyable experience. I also spoke with the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, Mr. Leo Clark today about the event.

He stated, “we have over 40 clubs and organizations here at AMSC. Our student activities division serves to help students by planning more enjoyable ways of learning outside of the classroom. We also have a website, orgsync.com. It helps students find organizations they may be interested in and get involved.”

The Student Affairs Division has eight departments: Admissions and Registration, Student Integrity, Student Life, Student Outreach and Access, Counseling and Access Ability, Veterans Affairs, Financial Aid, and Trio Programs. For more information, you can find MS. Sandoval and Mr. Clark on the second floor of the Student Center in the student activities department.
